Barbara Alfaro for Lost in Romance

by Louisa Klein

And here’s for you a lovely, delicate poem by Barbara Alfaro, an old friend of Lost in Fiction. A talented writer and poet, she’s the award-winning author of Mirror Talk, a memoir about a Catholic girlhood and working in theatre, and a book of poems called First Kiss. Favourite authors are Dickens and the Bronte sisters. Favourite filmmakers are Woody Allen and the Coen brothers. She can be found here: http://www.barbaraalfaro.net/.
‘Amor’, means ‘love’ in Latin

Amor
I do not need to call you forth
as sorcerers do or kiss your photograph
like a schoolgirl with a crush.
I remember our embrace
that night in the rain and
you are with me Valentine.
