M. Leighton for Lost in Romance

by Louisa Klein

1) Why Romance? Did you choose this genre or were you ‘chosen’ by it?
I grew up reading romance and I’ve always loved it, so writing in this genre seemed like a natural extension of that.

2) Is there a romance author, living or dead, who inspires you particularly?
Probably Kathleen Woodiwiss. She wrote one of my favorite romances ever and I think penning a book that others could get as lost in as I did in *Wolf and the Dove* is my ultimate goal.

3) Please, tell us about your latest book and, if you can, about your future projects.
Right now I’m working on The Wild Child. I wrote a story for Rusty and Jenna, but am holding it for a later release. The next book in the series is going to be about Jake, Jenna’s brother. I’m loving the story so far! OMG! As for future projects, I plan to write the third book in The Wild Ones series next and then the third book in The Bad Boys series. After that, who knows?

4) How was your writing journey? Was it difficult to find an agent and get published?
Yes! LOL Like so many others, my writing journey began with rejection from agents and publishers alike. Fortunately, the literary climate was amenable to self-publishing in digital formats, so I was able to publish my work myself and achieve some success doing it. Since then, I’ve begun working with an agent (Kim Whalen of Trident Media Group) and signed one of my series to Berkley, an imprint of Penguin. To say my dreams have and are coming true would be an understatement of epic proportions. LOL

5) What’s your opinion about this Ebook revolution? Would you consider the indie route?
I would and I did. And it worked out beautifully!

6) Nowadays many publishers expect their authors to use Social media a lot to promote their books. Many authors, on the other hand, would prefer to write only, without being distracted by digital trivialities: what are your thoughts?
I love interacting with my readers, but I do find that sometimes I have to hide in my writing cave and get some work done. It’s far too much fun chatting with the girls about hot book guys. LOL I could do that and ignore my writing for days. But I shouldn’t. hehe
