Duckworth sells academic side of business to Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury has bought the academic business of independent publisher Duckworth, and will represent the Duckworth Trade list in the UK and all overseas markets from 1st March 2011.
Duckworth Academic will operate as Bristol Classical Press, taking effect immediately. Deborah Blake, editorial director, and Ray Davies, production director, will join Bloomsbury Academic as a result of the acquisition.
Nigel Newton, chief executive of Bloomsbury Publishing said: “Bringing such a distinguished academic list into Bloomsbury Academic is an important stepping stone in the development of our publishing in this area. We are also delighted to be representing the Duckworth Trade list, one which I have long admired, in the UK and overseas markets.”
